Big Pepper
oil pastel on paper
26” x 19”
1987
From a series of scaled-up drawings of small natural
objects in which I explored the degree to which resemblance to the human
form is necessary for one to recognize a personality in an object. Green
bell peppers lent a belligerent quality to this face, as well as to the
gloved Fists based on casts from actual peppers.
