23 feet long, 1981-82
Ten panels form a continuous frieze depicting an
ordinary New York City traffic jam, with the cars closely packed at
the center and flowing more smoothly at either end. Each panel illustrates
one of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20, iii-xvii). Traffic Frieze was
created for temporary installation with a grant from the New York State
Council on the Arts and sponsored by the Port Authority of New York
and New Jersey. Now in a corporate collection.
